Where do you find surrealism in your life today?
Sometimes I get the impression that some qualities of surrealism, like strangeness, the absurd or the miracle one could experience nearly every day around the next corner.
What is your worst fear?
My worst fear is to realize, that all of my fears are justified.
What do you do if you have no inspiration for work?
My experience is that you can´t force inspiration. In such case it´s much better to do something else or better to go to sleep and try again next day.
Who are your heroes?
My heroes are all people showing good humour when they face the dark sides of life.
Have you ever met a surrealistic person that you can’t forget? Tell us about it
I can´t think of one. In my point of view surrealism is more a quality of situations, relations or atmospheres than an attribute to a person. As the famous quote by Lautréamont tells : “As beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and an umbrella on an operating table” .
Tell us about a book that change your life
“The Myth of Sisyphus” by Albert Camus was a great introduction into facing the absurd without expecting any escape.
What makes an illustrator a good illustrator?
A good illustrator of course always has a very personal way of seeing the world, which nevertheless opens the eyes of the others for new ways of understanding the world.
What is the last time you felt winner? And looser?
I can´t remember having felt in one or the other way recently.
Tell us about a place in your city which you prefer when you want to relax
A great place in Hamburg is by the riverside of the Elbe. Along the river there is a quite long natural beach you wouldn´t expect in a city and especially in the summer you nearly can imagine the sea when you close your eyes and hear the sound of the waves coming from big ships entering the harbour.
What does it mean happiness for you?
To enjoy the presence of friends, music, art, good food, without thinking on future or being remembered of the past.

I would advise my 16 year old self not to think too much but to draw much more.
